Best comic book movie villain of all time thus far. I really enjoyed the portrayal, Heath was nothing short of amazing.

He's a great character, played very well by Heath Ledger.

I have to disagree here. Liev Schrieber's Victor Creed has been my own personal fave. But I don't think anyone could ever deny how awesome Heath was in the role and how much he made that character his own.

Everyone has their own personal favorite, but you have to be able to distinguish your favorites from the best. Liev definitely did a spectacular job, but his performance hardly even touches Heath's. That's how I see it, at least.

Preferred Nicholson, but Heath was decent. I couldn't buy into his character as much as other people though. Just couldn't take him seriously.

But I do think Liev was the best.

Well to each his or her own. I don't think Liev's performance was better than Heath's because Heath put his soul into the performance.

What makes you think Liev didn't do the same?
I'm really not getting at Heath's performance. Because it was truly breathtaking, I just felt that Liev did more for me.

Well, Liev showed dedication by putting on 40 lbs of muscle, but Heath literally became the character. He changed his voice to what he thought the Joker should sound like, created a completely new posture, and created mannerisms that showed he literally lost himself in the performance. Liev, while pulling off a good performance, was nowhere near as great as Heath.

But he didn't literally become the character, I believe that is some sort of myth. Chris Nolan, Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart all said that then the cameras stopped rolling he changed from Joker to Heath. This whole idea that he was consumed with the role is completely false. Yes he made every effort to make the character memorable and special. But it did not take over his life, to think it did would make it detrimental to his talent as an actor.
Liev did all the things you say Heath did. The voice, the posture, the mannerisms. At the end of the day it is a matter of opinion on who was better.

Liev didn't change his voice....making your voice a little deeper is not changing it, because you sound almost exactly the same. To be honest, Liev didn't put in as much work as Heath, and that shows through their performances.

I honestly think that's an incredibly unfair assumption. Let's be real here, neither you nor I were on either movies sets. So we have no idea what someone did or did not do.
Liev deserves far more kudos than what you're willing to give him.

On the surface, I'd say Liev was likely the better actor, but as far as who did a better job in their respective villain role, Ledger was far, far better. It's not that I'm overrating Heath's performance or unwilling to accept when an actor has been better, but Liev wasn't.

You're using facts, when all you have are assumptions and speculation. Just because it wasn't talked about ad infinum doesn't mean Liev didn't put his all into his role. That's actually kinda insulting to him.
Like I said, it really is a matter of opinion and not fact.
